Go on a discovery tour, encounter history and the present – Münster’s old town allows the stylistic contrasts of the centuries to be present in an impressive way: The cathedral, the city hall and the famous Prinzipalmarkt with its impressive merchants’ houses are classic in design; Münster’s Residenzschloss is a baroque-style palace, while the international avant-garde have turned the entire city into an open air museum for contemporary sculpture.
An endless string of old moated castles, manor houses and farmsteads stretch throughout the surrounding countryside as if they were on a beautiful green ribbon woven throughout the lovely Münsterland area.
LEISURE AND RECREATION
Münster is known for its high level of recreational and leisure value – not least thanks to the natural green surrounding area. Far away from the heavily travelled streets there is a tight network of walking and biking routes stretching for kilometres and weaving their way through fields and forests.
